J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit is a cartoon based on J.R.R. Tolkien's book The Hobbit.
A homebody hobbit finds himself going on a quest to save a dwarven treasure from a dragon in this loose adaptation of the classic novel.
Trivia[]
It took less than a month to create the cartoon. They did it in a terrible hurry. This is because the producer William L. Snyder expired a contract with Tolkien Estate (the legal entity that manages the property of the British writer J.R.R. Tolkien and the copyright to his works). The cartoon was shown in Manhattan on 30 June, 1967 - the day the contract expired.
