Inger Ederfeldt (born July 1956 in Stockholm, Sweden) is a Swedish Tolkien illustrator, award-winning writer and poet, and translator.
The Swedish editions of The Lord of the Rings (1978), The Silmarillion (1979), Unfinished Tales (1982), and The Book of Lost Tales (1986, 1988) featured cover art by Ederfeldt. She met Rayner Unwin, Tolkien's initial publisher, in 1982, and he approved her to be sole illustrator of Unwin Paperbacks' Tolkien Calendar 1985, made two years later.[1] Her art also occupied Ballantine Books' 1985 J.R.R. Tolkien Calendar.
Illustrations of Ederfeldt's were included later in HarperCollins' Tolkien Calendar 1998 and Tolkien's World: Paintings of Middle-earth (1992).

Having painted subjects of Middle-earth since age sixteen, her Tolkien art is mostly of characters and creatures. Her favorite character is Gollum.[1]
Writing novels, children's picture books, and comic books is Ederfeldt's primary occupation; she writes fantasy rarely, and realistic fiction mainly.
