The Huts of the Raft-elves are located on a protruding bank of the Forest River, near the eastern edge of Mirkwood. These huts are part of a small village where the raft-elves live. The raft-elves are responsible for collecting empty barrels from the Elvenking's Halls and sending them down the river to Lake-town.
In The Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins arrives at this location while hiding in a barrel, following Thorin and Company as they escape from the Wood-elves of Mirkwood. The huts are described as simple dwellings, possibly situated both on the ground and in the trees, reflecting the elves' connection to nature.
