Holman the Greenhanded was a Hobbit of the Shire.
Biography[]
Holman was the patriarch of the Greenhand family. He married an unnamed wife and had five children, named Rowan, Halfred, Erling, Hending, and Rose. He was a cousin of both the Gamgee and Cotton families. Little else is known of his life, but his grandson, Holman Greenhand, became the gardener at Bag End, taking Hamfast as an apprentice. Hamfast became the gardener himself after some time, and his son Samwise Gamgee replaced him in turn.[1]
