Hobbiton Hill, sometimes called simply The Hill, was a hill in the Westfarthing between Hobbiton and Overhill. It was on this hill that Bag End stood as well as Bagshot Row and its residents, the Party Field, and the Party Tree. The hill had many other large trees as well.[1]
History[]
During the rule of the Shire by Lotho and Saruman, much of the Hill's places and trees were dug up and destroyed, and a large sand and gravel quarry stood in the place of Bagshot Row. Following the Scouring of the Shire, the Party Tree was replaced by a mallorn, and Bagshot Row was restored and became "New Row".[2]
