Halfast Gamgee, more commonly known as "Hal", was a Hobbit of the Shire.
Biography[]
Halfast was born in TA 2972 (SR 1372) to Halfred Gamgee of Overhill, and was the cousin of Samwise Gamgee. He was known to have worked for the Boffin family as a hunter.
It was on one of his hunting jobs in the Northfarthing that he claimed to have seen a very large walking tree-like thing, that he called one of the Tree-men. This was later brought up in a debate between Sam and Ted Sandyman. It was disputed by Ted Sandyman, who voiced the opinion that Hal was apt to imagining things.[1]
