Gurthrant was a river in Mordor, in the region of Nurn. It was said to have originated in Nan Ungol, and flowed into the Sea of Núrnen.

The river is non-canonical, as it does not appear in the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, and appears only in the Middle-earth Role Playing game. It is additionally mentioned in the game Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor.

Etymology

Gurthrant is Sindarin for "Death-course".[citation needed]
