Gorgumoth was the hound of the Vala Mandos who guarded Melko in the castle of Lumbi after he was overthrown by Tulkas in the battle of the Silent Pools, during the First Faring Forth.[1]
Gorgumoth and the castle of Lumbi are not mentioned in The Silmarillion.
Etymology[]
Gorgumoth is a Gnomish name possibly containing the elements gor ("to die")[2], gûm ("burden")[3], and -oth ("abstract noun")[4].
