Changes: Gollum's Song (soundtrack)

Gollum's song is sung by Gollum on several occasions, and may have been written by Sméagol and Deagol. Or it could have originated in Gollum's time fishing with the ring in his cave. A version of the song with different lyrics was sung by Icelandic singer Emiliana Torrini , and was used for the film The Two Towers .

Lyrics

Part of Gollum's song (the book: The Two Towers) was used in The Hobbit. Gollum used it as a riddle when he and Bilbo had a riddle contest.

Alive without breath;
As cold as death;
Never thirsting, ever drinking;
Clad in mail never clinking.
Drowns on dry land,
Thinks an island
Is a mountain;
Thinks a fountain
Is a puff of air.
So sleek, so fair!
What a joy to meet!
We only wish
To catch a fish,
So juicy-sweet!

The following lines were added to the beginning, probably made up on the spot, as Gollum led Frodo and Sam out of the Emyn Muil:

The cold hard lands,
They bites our hands,
They gnaws our feet.
The rocks and stones
Are like old bones
All bare of meat.
But stream and pool
Is wet and cool:
So nice for feet!
And now we wish--

In the films, an alternate but similar version is heard when Gollum catches a fish in the Forbidden Pool:
