Golasgil was the Lord of Anfalas during the War of the Ring.

Biography

Golasgil

Golasgil in the ruins of Osgiliath.

In March of the year 3019, Golasgil marched to the defense of Minas Tirith with scantily equipped hunters, herdsmen, and villagers, except for the members of his household. Golasgil's army was quickly overrun by the forces of Mordor during the Battle of the Pelennor Fields. However, since he was not mentioned among the fallen in the Song of the Mounds of Mundburg, Golasgil managed to survive the great battle.[1]

Portrayal in adaptions

Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings

In the Return of the King film, Golasgil was seen in the ruins of Osgiliath where he was passing arms out to other rangers as they prepare to defend the ruined city from the forces of Mordor. It is unknown if he survived the battle when Faramir sounded the retreat. Golasgil was played by Royd Tolkien, the great-grandson of J.R.R. Tolkien.[2]
