The Gate of Writhen Iron was the fourth of the Seven Gates of Gondolin.

This gate had a high black wall with no lamps. On the wall there were four towers of iron. Between the two middle towers there was set a great iron eagle. The gate itself was the most beautiful part of the structure; it had three layers, each wrought in the likeness of trees and flowers.[1]
