Gil-Galad

Even though Gil-Galad is mentiond in the Silmarillion as the son of Fingon, Christopher Tolkien has stated he's not. He's the son of Orodreth. It is also stated that none of the 4th generation of the House of Finwë went to come into exile other than Idril, Orodreth and Celebrimbor. Fingon is also stated "to have no wife or children". Gil-Galad is also stated to have had golden hair, which suggests he is from the House of Finarfin, what makes it more logical he's the son of Orodreth, who is the grandson of Finarfin. In other articles such as Ñoldor and Fingon itself (althought the family tree on the page says otherwise) the right version is given. This needs to be cleaned up, because this makes this site Inconsistent. So either the true version should be on this site or the Silmarillion version. Like you said in Silmarillion it is stated that he's the son of Fingon so it is JRR Tolkien saying he's the son of Fingon...and to me this clearly looks like the TRUE version.

The Silmarillion wasn't published by JRR Tolkien, but by Christopher and he admitted it was a mistake. EvilHeroDarkGaia 22:56, December 26, 2010 (UTC)
