This article is about the group of Men. For the similarly named inhabitants of the Old Forest, see Forest-folk.

The Forest-folk of Minhiriath[1] were a group of Men living in the region of Minhiriath in Eriador, Middle-earth. They were related to the Folk of Haleth, one of the three houses of the Edain, but they did not migrate to Beleriand like the others. Instead, they remained in Eriador, living in scattered communities within the dense forests of Minhiriath.

During the Second Age, the Númenóreans began large-scale deforestation in Minhiriath to supply timber for their shipbuilding. This led to hostility between the Forest-folk and the Númenóreans. Many of the Forest-folk fled to the dark woods of Eryn Vorn to escape persecution.

By the Third Age, Minhiriath had become largely depopulated due to wars, deforestation, and plagues. However, some secretive hunter-folk continued to live in the remaining wooded areas.
