Forbidden Pool was the main stronghold of the Rangers of Ithilien; it was located in Ithilien. Any being who swimmed in the Forbidden Pool was punished by death; however, there has been at least one exception. The area around the pool consisted of natural caverns in which the Rangers of Ithilien slept and ate. The location was a closely guarded secret, so they bound Frodo and Sam's eyes before the journey to the pool.
