Ferumbras III Took was a Hobbit of the Shire and the thirtieth Shire-thain.
Biography[]
Ferumbras III, while not otherwise particularly famous, was the thirtieth Shire-thain at the time of the Farewell party of Bilbo Baggins at the beginning of The Lord of the Rings. He was the son of Fortinbras II Took (TA 2878 – TA 2980, a cousin of Bilbo) and Lalia (Clayhanger) Took. He never married because no one wanted Lalia for a mother-in-law.
After his death in TA 3015 (SR 1415) at the age of ninety-nine, the Thainship passed to his second cousin Paladin II Took.[1]
