Erien was a Ñoldorin Elf-maiden in earlier versions of J.R.R. Tolkien's legendarium.[1]
Erien was the daughter of Fingon, and she had a brother, Finbor.[1] Nothing else is told of her as the character was discarded by later accounts.
Etymology[]
Erien is a Sindarin name with an unclear meaning, though it may possibly mean "First Woman"[citation needed] as it consists of the element er ("1,[2] one,[3] alone")[4] and the suffix -ien ("feminine ending; feminine patronymic, -daughter").[5][6]
In other versions[]
Her original name was Ernis.[1]
