There are five "easter eggs" that can be found in the DVD releases of Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Directions[]

  • The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
    • Disc 1: The easter egg is an alternative Council of Elrond scene made by MTV. You can find it by going to Select a Scene, go to the scenes 25–28, and highlight scene 27, then click the down button on your DVD remote, and select the One Ring appearing next to the words "New Scene".
    • Disc 2: Within this disc is the preview of The Two Towers that appeared at the end of the theatrical release of The Fellowship of the Ring. You can find it by going to Select a Scene, bringing scene 48 up, then going back and highlighting number 48 in the scene numbers; after that, click the down button on your remote. Select the image of the two towers that appears.
  • The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
    • Disc 1: Here the easter egg is of Andy Serkis receiving the Best Virtual Performance Award given to him by MTV, with a slight twist. You can find it by going to Select a Scene, go to the scenes 29–30, and highlight scene 30, then hit 'down' on your remote, and select the One Ring appearing next to the words "New Scene".
  • The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
    • Disc 1: The easter egg is of Dominic Monaghan disguised as a German interviewer interviewing Elijah Wood. You can find it by going to Select a Scene, go to the scenes 33–36, and at scene 36, hit 'down' on your remote, and select the One Ring appearing next to the words "New Scene".
    • Disc 2: You can find this easter egg by going to scenes 77–78 in scene selection, highlighting scene 78, going down, and selecting the One Ring shown next to the words "New Scene". The easter egg is of comedy actors Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn asking Peter Jackson about making another Lord of the Rings movie, despite the trilogy having been finished.
