Dol Baran was a hill in Nan Curunír.
Dol Baran lay between Isengard and the Gap of Rohan, at the southernmost foot of the Misty Mountains.[1] It was covered with heather.[2]
History[]
Dol Baran was the place where Rohirrim had made a camp at which Pippin looked into the Palantír of Orthanc (a different location than in the third film), and was also where a Nazgûl, atop a Fellbeast, was seen flying.[2][3]
The hill was also where the Fellowship of the Ring (save Boromir) were fully assembled for the last time.
Etymology[]
Dol Baran is Sindarin for 'Golden-brown hill'.[4]
In adaptations[]
The Lord of the Rings Online[]
The location's only other appearance is in The Lord of the Rings Online, where it is a site of skirmish between Rohirrim and Dunlending forces.
