Diarmid was a Man of the Southlands in the Second Age, whose ancestors served the last King of the Southlands.
Biography[]
After being driven their home by Adar's army of Orcs, Diarmid and his fellow Southland villagers traveled towards the sea with the hope of sailing to safer lands. On the road, Diarmid encountered Sauron in his guise as Halbrand, and taking him for a fellow traveler, convinced Halbrand to join them. Once their voyage had embarked, however, a sea monster known as a "worm" attacked the ship at night. Despite Diarmid's kindness, Halbrand abandoned the man to the worm's destruction, taking the ancient royal insignia Diarmid kept.
