Dernhelm was the name Éowyn took in her disguise of a man in the army of Rohan, when the Rohirrim rode to Minas Tirith.[1]

Dernhelm means "hidden protector" in Old English.

In adaptations Edit

The name Dernhelm is not used in Peter Jackson's The Return of the King film, due to Meriadoc Brandybuck recognizing her immediately after she lifts him onto her horse, but it appears in the 36th soundtrack of the extended edition of the film, "Dernhelm in Battle".
