The Deeping-coomb was the deep, well-defended valley of the northern White Mountains in Rohan that held Helm's Deep and the fortress of the Hornburg. This was the site of the major Battle of the Hornburg during the War of the Ring.[1]
Etymology[]
The word coomb is a rare Brythonic word (as in the Welsh cwm); meaning a small, deep dry valley. It gives its name to many places in the British Isles.
