David Wenham is an Australian actor who played the role of Faramir, a captain of Gondor, in Peter Jackson's The Two Towers (2002) and The Return of the King (2003). Wenham is one of the actors who afterwards voiced their character in The Return of the King video game; an opportunity he enjoyed.

Wenham greatly valued participating in The Lord of the Rings film trilogy. He auditioned for the part because Faramir is the Captain of Gondor, a great swordsman and archer, and a thinker. Faramir's brother and father were portrayed by Sean Bean and John Noble.
