Dalish was the language of the inhabitants of Dale, and was related to Rohirric and Westron.

The Dwarves of the Lonely Mountain spoke this language, using the Dalish translations of their names when interacting with others so as not reveal their true language, Khuzdul. Additionally, some Hobbits utilized a variant of Dalish in certain circumstances.[1] The corresponding writing system, used by the Northmen, was a form of Cirth.[2]
