Dáin's hall was the hall of of the Dwarf-king Dáin I during the Third Age. This hall formed the capital of the Grey Mountains.[1]

History[]

Dáin's hall was likely founded by the first exiled dwarves from Khazad-dûm who had fled because of the Balrog. However, because there is no information on this hall, it can only be assumed that it was the capital of Durin's Folk at the time.

In TA 2589,[2] Dáin was killed by a great Cold-drake along with his son Frór at the entrance to the hall. A year later, most of Durin's Folk abandoned the mountains, leaving for Erebor and the Iron Hills.[1]

Unused concept art

Dáin's hall was evidently set to appear within the game The Lord of the Rings: The White Council before its indefinite postponement, based on released concept art.

The hall made it's first appearance in The Lord of the Rings Online in the Ered Mithrin expansion, where it was given the name Thikil-gundu, or the Steel Keep. The location is involved in a quest to find Nori's lost expedition, and to discover the status of the cold-drake that killed Dáin.
