The Chase to Rivendell was a chase in the film The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey where Radagast the Bird-tamer attempted to lead the Hunter Orcs away while Gandalf led Thorin and Company towards the Great East Road which led them into Rivendell, the House of the Elves. The event is non-canonical as it does not appear in the works of J.R.R. Tolkien.
In the year TA 2941, an Orc Band led by Yazneg made an attempt to kill the Dwarves, but they were all distracted by Radagast and his Rabbits who was drawing them away from the company. While Radagast continued to draw the Hunter Orcs away, the Company hid behind a rock when an Orc approached the rock and picked up on a scent. After Kili shot the Orc's warg, the Orc fell in the Dwarven's hideout and is killed by Dwalin and Bifur. Yazneg heard the Orc's cry, and ordered the Orcs to go after the Dwarves. As the company hide inside a cave, the Hunter Orcs find it will be an easy kill. Fifty Elves led by Lord Elrond then appear and hunt the Orcs. All Orcs are killed, except Yazneg and Fimbul, who retreat back to Weathertop while Thorin and Company managed to reach Rivendell.
In the aftermath of the skirmish, Yazneg is killed by Azog for his failure.
