The Causeway was a road in the Eastfarthing of the Shire that began in Deephallow and went north through the small villages of Rushey and Stock; it then ended at the junction of the East-West Road.[1] The road had high banks and followed parallel to the Brandywine River, to the opposite of Buckland.[2]
During the late Third Age, Frodo Baggins, Samwise Gamgee, and Peregrin Took rode in Farmer Maggot's wagon on part of the Causeway that led four or five miles from Maggot's Lane to the Bucklebury Ferry, meeting Meriadoc Brandybuck on the way.[2]
