Caras Gaer was a location in western Rhûn, consisting of multiple stone halls amid an arid, mountainous landscape. A mysterious dark wizard resided here in the Second Age as the lord over an order of mystic acolytes and some number of the Gaudrim.
Etymology[]
Caras Gaer is a Sindarin name made up of the elements caras ("a built fort or dwelling surrounded by bulwarks; circular earthwall with dike") and gaer ("awful, fearful").
