Calphon is a Gondor Noble from Dol Amroth created by Fantasy Flight Games for the The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game. Players can obtain him as an objective-ally in The Grey Havens Expansion.
Biography[]
Calphon is encountered by the players in the Grey Havens along with Círdan the Shipwright. During the meeting Calphon explains that he has been having dreams and visions of Númenor and its ruins. Círdan explains that though most of Númenor sank during the Second Age, it was possible that some of the highest peaks (like Meneltarma) could have survived and is still above the water now as an Island. With the Gondorian ships of the Dawn Star and the Silver Wing alongside the Elven ships of the Dreamchaser and the Nárelenya, the heroes set out on the sea of Belegaer to search for what remains of the Island of Númenor.
After surviving storms and blood thirsty Corsairs, Calphon and the heros finally reach Númenor. On exploring the Island the party is attack by hoards of Undead Númenóreans; those who were cursed by worshipping Morgoth. After fending off the dead, the party comes across a temple carved into the side of a mountain; further investagation of the ruins reveals that the temple was dedicated to Morgoth. While in the temple, Lord Calphon finds a secret passage that leads him to finding a strange black key.
Upon returning back to the Grey Havens, Calphon and the heros meet again with Círdan and Galdor of the Havens to discuss the origins of the black key and what it was made for. Before they could reach a conclusion the alarm was sounded in the Havens of an attack of Corsairs. After the Heroes defend the Havens from the raid, they found Calphon dead in a tower and the black key stolen. The Heroes continued the journey across Belegaer to stop the Corsairs, avenge Calphon, and find out the mystery behind the black key.
Calphon's wears fine clothes which show his nobility. He does not seem to carry any weapons, relying on the protection of others.
Card usage[]
In the card game, Calphon is largely associated with his special ability. Calphon can be used for questing, but should be noted that some treachery cards will hurt him. He should also be only used for defense if the attacking enemy is has 2 or less attack value. Calphon's ability can help switch a card in your hand with a possible better card, but it is only useful if you can reshuffle your deck or have cards that allow you to draw from the bottom of your deak.
