Bywater was a village in the Shire, lying within the Westfarthing near Hobbiton, and along Bywater Road. Bywater was located on The Water, a small stream that ran through part of the Shire, and where the village took its name from. It was home to the famous Green Dragon Inn.[1]
History[]
Bywater was the site of the Battle of Bywater on November 3, 3019. It was in this battle that the War of the Ring ended, as it saw the defeat and death of the rebel Istari Saruman at the hands of Gríma Wormtongue (who was, in turn, shot by three unnamed Hobbit archers).[2]
