Brian Sibley (born Brian David Sibley July 14, 1949 in London, England) is a writer, broadcaster, and Tolkien enthusiast responsible for BBC Radio 4's 1981 The Lord of the Rings dramatization, various commentaries on Tolkien's maps, and official guides to the making of Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings (2001 - 2003) and The Hobbit (2012 - 2014) films. He gives insight throughout Michael Pellerin's three documentaries focusing on Tolkien, featured in the Extended Edition bonus discs of the first trilogy, serving also as Creative Consultant and Segment Producer for some of them.
In November of 2022, his comprehensive edition The Fall of Númenor will be released, as the fourth posthumous, official publication concerning a key tale of the Middle-earth legendarium, following Christopher Tolkien's The Fall of Gondolin (2018).
Sibley has written for many other BBC radio plays since 1976, and engages often with children's literature and Disney stories. He is an honorary member of the Tolkien Society in the U.K.
He has been interviewed on Nerd of the Rings[1], the Prancing Pony Podcast[2], and the Tolkien Experience Podcast[3].
