Borthand was an Easterling man, son of Bór, apparently the youngest of his three sons.
Biography[]
Borthand fought with the Union of Maedhros at the Nírnaeth Arnoediad and, like his father and two brothers, remained loyal to the Sons of Fëanor, unlike those of Ulfang, who betrayed them. He was slain fighting against the traitors.[2][3]
Etymology[]
Borthand is a Sindarin name which means 'steadfast shield', from bôr, meaning 'steadfast friend', or 'trusty vassal', and thand, meaning 'shield'.
