Borin was a Dwarf of Durin's Folk, the second son of King Náin II and brother of Dáin I.
Biography[]
After his younger nephew, Frór, and brother were slain, Borin departed from the Ered Mithrin with his younger nephew, Thrór, to the Lonely Mountain in eastern Middle-earth, and lived there until his death. Thrór would someday be King of the Lonely Mountain, until the dragon Smaug assaulted it.
Borin was an ancestor of Balin, of Thorin Oakenshield's company, and Gimli of the Fellowship of the Ring.[1]
