Everyone takes it for granted that Frodo was the one who destroyed the ring. Should he take credit for it though? Please educate me.

No doubt, Frodo is a creature of immense courage and commitment (and in some ways, Sam is even more courageous but that's a topic for a different blog). He endures much hardship and almost dies multiple times, but never loses his commitment. He takes credit for taking the ring all the way to Mount Doom with the intention to destroy it. Yet, along the way little by little the ring is working its black magic on him, corrupting him as time goes. By the time he reaches the Cracks he has fully given in to the corrupting power of "power" and decides to keep the ring rather than throwing it in. No matter how much his…

Sauron and the Evil Eye detect the ring. It has seemed that Gollum was sent by Sauron to collect the One Ring, and as a reward, the Witch King's ring. Gollum fights Frodo. Instead, the Nazguls cornered Mount Doom. Frodo was so scared he fell into Mount Doom with the ring along with Sam, but a Nazgul quickly picked up the falling ring on his Fell Beast, and returned it to his master, Sauron. He quickly killed that nazgul and took his ring. He immediately ordered the other 7 nazguls to come. Yeeehhhhhs Maaaster? He quickly used the one ring and killed them with a instant look. He then salvaged their rings. Gollum, limping to Sauron's Throne Room said Uhhssss Ring? OF Course Sauron replied as Gollum cam closer. As Gollum was taking the ring out o…

    The Stoor ring

    The Harfoot ring

In Fanon, Hobbit Rings are forgotten rings orignially made by Sauron, too. He created these rings in secret, and by the time he finished the 2 of them, he got killed, but then he returned, but totally forget about Hobbit Rings. Before he got killed, Sauron ment to give 1 to a Stoor Hobbit and another to a Harfoot Hobbit. The energy of Saurons Collapse caused the ring to shatter across scarcley populated areas of the Shire. 2 famalies lived there, 1 Stoor, 1 Harfoot. They took the rings, and started you use it to uncover secrets, much like Gollum did. Hobbit rings were stronger than the 3 Rings, but weaker than the 1 Ring. Due to a special ability of the two famalies, the Ring whould actually never wear out its u…

Not but a mile away at the Black Gate of Bara-Dour is the army of Gondor fighting the wretched Orcs of Mordor. Frodo’s friends have distracted the lit less eye of Sauron to their battle, so Frodo would at least have a chance to make it into the mountain without being caught. Frodo and his Worthy companion, Sam, have almost made it half way up the mountain when all the sudden Frodo falls, weary from the long journey from the shire, his home sweet home on the far North Western borders of Middle-Earth, to Elvin city of Rivendell, To Moria and Lothlorien, and the Emyn Muil. You've always dreamed of living like a Baggins, drinking ale on the grassy roof of your Hobbit-hole somewhere in the Shire, but then you snap back to reality. Even if you could afford to travel to New Zealand and get the full Lord of the Rings scenery tour, you would be hard pressed to find a vacant Hobbit-hole for rent. Luckily for you, some nice human-folk in Montana have made it possible to fulfill your Hobbiton dreams.

LOTR enthusiasts with property in the town of Trout Creek opened the Hobbit House of Montana, which can be yours for $245 per night. The creators commissioned several artists to make the surrounding premises as Shire-like as possible, with miniature houses for Hobbits, Elves, Trolls and faeries surrounding the rental prop…

Lord of the Rings fansite was the one to get the final The Hobbit dwarf reveal - King Thorin Oakenshield himself, played by Richard Armitage.

As a young Dwarf prince, Thorin witnessed the destruction and terror wrought when a great fire-breathing Dragon attacked the Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor. After slaughtering many of Thorin’s kin, the great serpent, Smaug, entered The Lonely Mountain and took possession of its vast store of gold and jewels. No-one came to the aid of the surviving Dwarves, and thus, a once proud and noble race was forced into exile. Through long years of hardship, Thorin grew to be a strong and fearless fighter and revered leader. In his heart a fierce desire grew; a desire to reclaim his homeland and destroy the…

    Oin and Gloin revealed

    July 11, 2011 by Ausir

After the recent reveal of Nori, Dori and Ori, now it's time for two more of the thirteen dwarves that accompany Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit movies - John Callen as Oin and Peter Hambleton as Gloin.

Distant cousins of Thorin Oakenshield, these two doughty Northern Dwarves join the Company out of a sense of loyalty to their kin, and also because they have a substantial sum of money invested in the venture. Along with Bombur, Gloin is the only other married Dwarf in the Company (there being a shortage of female dwarves in general). His wife is an acclaimed beauty with a particularly fine beard. Gloin is the proud father of a young son, Gimli, who will go on to become part of the famous Fellowship of the Ring.

Personally, I've always had a hard time distinguishing the dwarves in The Hobbit, but from the newly released photo and its official description, it looks like they've been given more unique personality traits in the upcoming The Hobbit movies.

Our first dwarf photo shows (from left to right) Jed Brophy as Nori, Adam Brown as Ori and Mark Hadlow as Dori. Here's the description from The Hobbit official Facebook page:

These three brothers, all sons of the same mother, could not be more different from each other. Dori, the oldest, spends much of his time watching out for Ori, the youngest; making sure he’s not caught a chill or got himself killed by Wargs or Goblins. Nobody quite knows what Nori gets up to most of the time, except that it’s guarante…

The photo here is of Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins. Said Jackson to EW about it, "He fits the ears, and he's got some very nice feet. I think he's got the biggest hobbit feet we've had so far. They're a little bit hard to walk in, but he's managed to figure out the perfect hobbit gait.

After recent exciting cast annoucements, The Hollywood Reporter now reports that Losts Evangeline Lilly has joined the cast of the upcoming The Hobbit movies as a newly created character, Wood Elf Tauriel. Her name means "daughter of Mirkwood". Peter Jackson has stated that there won't be any romantic connection between her and Mirkwood prince Legolas, though.

Another actor announced to have been cast in the production is Barry Humphries, who will portray the Great Goblin via motion capture similar to the one used by Andy Serkis as Gollum.

What do you think about the new announcements? As someone who used to be quite a Tolkien purist, I'm not sure about the addition of more new characters. But I guess we'll have to wait and see!

Deadline reports that Benedict Cumberbatch will voice the fearsome dragon Smaug in the upcoming The Hobbit films. Not only that, but he will also voice another character, who was only mentioned in the actual book. Don't look further if you want to avoid spoilers!

According to the article, Cumberbatch will also be the voice of the mysterious Necromancer of Dol Guldur, whom Lord of the Rings fans know to actually be the Dark Lord Sauron. It's been mentioned a while ago that the movies will show us some of the events involving Gandalf that happened during The Hobbit but which were only mentioned in the books. Maybe there will be some surprises even for longtime fans?
