Adventure Dream Team: Winner Announced
The users have spoken (with their votes) and the winner of Wikia’s “Adventure Dream Team” bracket tournament has been crowned. The honor goes to Frodo the 9 fingered and his “Fellowship of Awesomeness.”
—Frodo the 9 fingered
This team’s composition was deemed by the Wikia community as the perfect mix of fictional characters (both good and evil) to destroy the One Ring in the fires of Mt. Doom -- easily overcoming any obstacle thrown in its way. And obstacles the team did face.
“The Fellowship of Awesomeness” survived 12 elimination rounds (which raked in an impressive 6,500 votes total) and managed to eek out the highest winning percentage of votes in any round -- an impressive 92.3 percent in the fourth round alone. The team is comprised of …

Stephen Colbert Possibly Appearing in The Hobbit
It's almost time for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey to come out in theaters (I CAN HARDLY WAIT) and for us to return to the Shire, but pieces of news about the trilogy are always popping up!
The news we have today is for the Colbert Nation fans out there: "an unnamed, but "knowledgeable" source told the Hollywood Reporter that the host of The Colbert Report will make an appearance in the Hobbit franchise, though there was no information on what role he would play or if he would be an extra."
AAAH!!
Fans of Colbert know that he can speak Elvish and has been a huge fan of The Lord of the Rings since he was a child. In a Playboy interview, Colbert hinted that he might make an appearance in the trilogy, but his cameo is expected to be in either the…

A History of Hobbits in Games
It is an undeniable fact that J.R.R. Tolkien has had an immense influence on popular culture today. While Tolkien did not invent the fantasy genre, he pioneered it. Nearly every work of fiction, in any medium, can trace some part of their lineage back to Middle Earth.
Today, in celebration of Hobbit Day, I’m tracing one small aspect of Tolkien’s effect on the video games industry by walking through the History of Hobbits of games in the present day.
This is by no means a definitive list or chronicle of hobbits in games, and I am no Tolkien expert. So if you have a favorite diminutive hero or some keen/corrective insight into the state of Shire-folk in games, chime in below in the comments!

English Schoolboys Beat Peter Jackson to the Punch
We've all been eagerly awaiting for Peter Jackson's theatrical adaptation of The Hobbit, which comes out on December 14th.
For those of you pulling your hair out with anticipation, there are 70 schoolboys in southwest London who've got your back. The group of 8-13 year olds from the Tower House prep school have taken it upon themselves to create their own 90 minute adaptation of the story. They produced every aspect of the film including writing the script, making costumes, creating special effects, acting, and more. The father of one of the boys happens to have a production company who volunteered their editing services. Their film was shown at the Curzon Renoir Cinema in Russell Square from Monday September 17th until Thursday September 2…
New Hobbit Trailer
The first trailer for the first Hobbit film was nothing short of epic, with the spine-tingling dwarf song of the Misty Mountains and of course, it being our first glimpse into Peter Jackson's new pair trilogy of films based on The Hobbit.
It's been 9 months since that first trailer was released. Usually, that's a long time to wait for a second glimpse, but the first trailer was so good that I think it's perfect timing. Right at the end of the summer I started pining for some new morsels from the film. With this second trailer, we get new gems like Gollum's game of riddles with Bilbo Baggins and a foreboding line from Radagast the Brown.
If you haven't seen it yet, watch it immediately:
Hobbits in Games Input
Hey there Lord of the Rings fans!
So in celebration of Hobbit Day, I thought it would be fun to use my own expertise in games and delve into the influence Tolkien has had on the fantasy game genre. Specifically, I want to trace the history and inspiration of hobbits through games. Their progenitor might include halflings and any other variety of short-statured fantasy race.
Specifically, I am interested in what ways their features change over time and what role they play in both the role and the gameplay of the games in which they live. Do you have any favorite "versions of hobbits" in games? Have any input on the idea? Let me know by leaving a comment or a message on my talk page!
Thanks!
Help with Battle for Middle Earth wiki
hi, i was wondering if anyone could help out at the wiki for middle earth (its all about the Battle for Middle Earth games) which really needs some help, I've made a couple of pages for the units but they are not as complete as they should be. plus, i haven't played the game, and i don't know if some of the information is correct. especially those relating to the campaign missions. The wiki also does not have many contributors (basically only 2).
if anyone knows the campaigns, units, etc for the two games (and its expansion), your input is most welcome and really appreciated

Tauriel???
I posted this in response to another blog post but because of the age of the post I didn't know if anyone would see it. I wanted to know if anyone was of the same opinion as me so I am posting it again. Please don't misinterpret this post because I know the movie will be good. Peter Jackson is one of the greatest directors of our generation.
I'm worried! I'm always concerned when people seek to add to the brilliance which is Tolkien. I trust Peter because he is a brilliant director. However, I see no need for the addition of a major character to the best book I have ever read. I remember the frustration when Tom Bombadil and Glorfindel were omitted from the Lord of the Rings movies. I don't want that for The Hobbit. Also, I don't see why th…
Dunlending Injustice?
Hey, an interesting thought occurred to me about the Eorlingas settling Calenardhon. The native hillmen, or Dunlendings as they came to be called, were apparently pushed off their land by the invading Northmen. Did Gondor have the right to award fiefs in that land to these northern folk, while completely disregarding their subjects already living there? I know Calenardhon was de-populated because of plagues, war, etc., but there were still some people already living there! I believe Saruman was at least right in telling his Dunland allies that they were unjustly driven off their land by the invading horsemen. In fact, the situation of a fair-haired northern people driving off a supposedly "inferior" culture into the hills seems to me to be…
How far?
As much as I love Middle-earth, geography doesn't agree. I can't remember if I already knew this or not. What I wanted to ask was how far would it be from:
The Shire to Gondor?
The Shire to Rohan?
The Shire to Mordor?
Rivendell to Lothlorien?
And by how far I mean in miles, and even months, days, and hours if you want. Google Earth isn't much help. All you get is places around England and "One does not simply walk into Mordor." Anyone who knows thank you for your time.

LEGO pages
I think the LEGO pages here should be fixed. They aren't as good as the other pages here are, and they only have pictures from the Toyfair. You should see the articles on Brickipedia for the Lord of the Rings sets, they're much better. I really think we need to fix the pages.

Samwise Gamgee vs Lurtz
Even though Lurtz was only in the movie not in the book, he is one of the coolest villains. I like being him whenever I play Lord of the Rings: the third age. So....Aragorn killed Lurtz at Amon Hen at the end of fellowship of the ring didn't he? If Samwise could kill all those orcs in ROTK and he could kill Shelob......could he beat Lurtz? Who would win, Samwise or Lurtz?
Represent Your Wiki at Comic-Con
Known in some circles as the geek Mecca, Comic-Con International: San Diego has become the place for entertainment enthusiasts looking to get their yearly fix of all things film, TV, comics, anime, toys and more. With the 2012 show fast approaching, what better place to celebrate the living, breathing embodiment of Wikia than at the ultimate pop culture event. So I am excited to announce, Wikia is going!
That’s right. We’re pulling up our Internet stakes and traveling circus-style to Southern California where we have a number of fun events planned (meet-ups, parties, interview opportunities, etc.) for the duration of the convention. But what is Wikia without you, the community? After all, is not the whole greater than the sum of its parts? …

Grabûnhold
Grabûnhold (or the Wight King) was a Wight that was the servent of the Witch-King of Angmar
In the Fall of Arnor, Grabûnhold was said to be the Brother of Ardorlan (Prince of Cardolan). When some armies of Cardolan escaped to Fornost for the Battle of Fornost, he came with the surviving Cardolan armies.
In the Battle of Fornost, He Defended the Citadel along with Eärnur & the King of Fornost. Some of Angmar's armies tried to break through the walls by damaging them, But didn't break through so the armies destroyed the Front entrance to Fornost. By the time, the Main Gate to Fornost's citadel was broken through as he charged to the armies of Angmar. The Witch-King managed to kill Grabûnhold by blasting back some armies. Grabûnhold died on the…

Assault on Lothlórien
the Assault of Lothlórien is a battle of Goblins against the Lothlórien Elves during the War of the Ring

The Goblins & Angmar plans together to conquer Middle-Earth & Isengard plans to join aside with Mordor. Battle of Erebor (Good & Evil)
The Battle for Erebor is a battle in the Mountain, Erebor & the Kindom of Dale during The War of the Ring.
The Dwarves of the Lonely Mountain (Erebor) and the Men of Dale refused to acknowledge the Overlordship and alliance of Sauron. While his southern armies menaced Gondor, he sent an army north to extend his dominion to prevent the armies of his enemies joining together under one banner, which could have proved disastrous for Mordor.
On March 17th of the year 3019 in the Third Age, Sauron sent a large contingent of Orcs of Dol Guldur, Easterlings of Rhûn, Haradrim of the South, Trolls of Mordor & Mûmakil under the command of the Mouth of Sauron.
The battle began when some of the Orcs, Battering Rams & Trolls tried to take over Dale, but fail…

One Hobbit to rule them all, One Pub to find them, One Fellowship to bring them all, and with a Lawsuit bind them
In a land, many many miles away (England), where dragons roar, nazguls ride, and trees walk among us, there is a pub.
A very small pub.
A Hobbit, if you will.
In fact, the pub is called the Hobbit. It's an integral part of the community in Southampton, England, where Tolkein enthusiasts might meet up to enjoy a drink in this highly reputed tavern surrounded by Middle Earth's incredible universe.
This pub is unlike any other, with Middle Earth inspired cocktails (such as the Gandalf and Frodo), Tom Bombadil music evenings, and fantastic wall art in the garden supplied by a local artist.
The patrons and staff alike are fans of Tolkein's work, and the pub has been serving weary "Striders" for over 20 years, with no prior complaints or claims. The …
