The Battle in Erebor takes place in TA 2941 between the dragon Smaug and the Dwarven company led by Thorin II Oakenshield, along with Bilbo Baggins, in an attempt to destroy the dragon once and for all and to retake the Kingdom of Erebor. Bilbo has already done some exploration of the old hallways using the Side-door and has stolen the Arkenstone from the treasure. By this deed and by Bilbo's bold speech Smaug's anger is kindled.

The battle, which lasts for several minutes, ends with Smaug taking off to Esgaroth to destroy it.
The event is non-canonical as it does not appear in the works of J.R.R. Tolkien.
