Barad Nimras

Barad Nimras

Barad Nimras was a tower built by Finrod in FA 65, on the Falas between the havens of Brithombar and Eglarest. It was built to keep watch, should Morgoth try to assail them from the sea.[1]

Etymology

Barad nimras is Sindarin, for 'tower of the white horn'.

Earlier names

Tindobel was the original name ascribed to this location. In revisions of The Silmarillion that name was replaced by Ingildon, which later was finally emended, to Barad Nimras.[2]
