Ban was an Easterling man in earlier versions of J.R.R. Tolkien's legendarium.
He was the father of Blodren, a member of Túrin's outlaw-band.[1]
Etymology[]
The name Ban is nowhere glossed in published works, though the name translates in Old English to Bana.[2]
Other versions[]
In earlier versions, Ban was a Gnome who was the father of Blodrin.[3][4]
In an even earlier version, Ban was an Easterling named Bór before his name was changed to Ban, as Bór became the name of another.[5]
