The light of the shaft fell directly on a table in the middle of the room: a single oblong block, about two feet high, upon which was laid a great slab of white stone. Balin's tomb

Balin's tomb was a mausoleum of white marble that was located deep within Moria on the eastern side of the Misty Mountains to the north of the Twenty-first Hall of North end.

Description[]

The tomb was located within what had once been the Chamber of Mazarbul, or the Chamber of Records. The tomb was in the center of the room and housed the body of Gimli's fallen cousin, Balin, who had tried to reclaim Moria in TA 2989. The tomb was illuminated by a beam of light from a shaft in the ceiling.

Upon the tomb, the words were inscribed in cirth runes, saying:

BALIN SON OF FUNDIN
LORD OF MORIA
