Archet was a remote village of Bree-land, set among the trees on the edge of the Chetwood, east of Bree itself. Its inhabitants were mostly Men, but some Hobbits resided there as well.[1]

History

As Aragorn and the Hobbits left Bree on their way to Rivendell, they started out in the direction of Archet to fool the crowd of Bree-landers, although they turned aside into the Chetwood before reaching the village itself. Later on in the War of the Ring, Archet's woods became home to Ruffians. During the winter they attempted to invade Bree itself, but were fought back. Their accomplices among the Bree-men, Harry Goatleaf and Bill Ferny, escaped with them, and apparently joined them in their forest camps near Archet.[2]

Map of Archet from The Lord of the Rings Online

Archet, along with the rest of Bree-land, is depicted in the online role-playing game The Lord of the Rings Online, where it is a starting point for Men and Hobbits. The above map depicts the village of Archet itself, as well as landmarks to the south and east of the village. In the game's tutorial for new hobbit and Man characters, the village is burnt down by ruffians.
