Anne C. Petty, Ph.D. (May 21, 1945 - July 21, 2013[1]) was an American writer and scholar who engaged in comparative mythology, the humanities, and Tolkien studies.
She authored two substantial works on J.R.R. Tolkien's writing style and Middle-earth legendarium: Tolkien in the Land of Heroes (2004) and One Ring to Bind Them All: Tolkien's Mythology (1979). The latter had been Petty's dissertation in her doctoral studies in English at Florida State University. She has written a number of published articles on Tolkien, as well as other subjects, and wrote four published fictional stories of her own.
She resided in Florida, U.S.A., and was regarded a friend of TheOneRing.net.
