Amy Amendt-Raduege is a Medieval scholar who wrote "The Sweet and the Bitter": Death and Dying in J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, published by The Kent State University Press in 2017. She teaches in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Western Washington University in the United States.
She has also written articles in Tolkien studies compilations: an essay on memory and mortality in Bradford Lee Eden's Middle-earth Minstrel (2010) and another on J.R.R. Tolkien's characters Merry and Pippin in John D. Rateliff's A Wilderness of Dragons: Essays in Honor of Verlyn Flieger (2018).
