Amazon Studios is a division of Amazon, Inc. that has produced and distributed film and TV since 2010. All of its original productions are released solely to Amazon Prime Video. It began making films in 2015, and in 2017 no longer relied on external studios to promote and distribute productions.

Amazon Studios is based in Los Angeles, California, and headed by Jennifer Salke.

In November 2017, Amazon Studios obtained the rights, in a $250 million deal, to develop a TV series adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth history. This show, made in conjunction with Warner Bros. and HarperCollins publishers, will be released in 2021, and its first season will be directed by J.A. Bayona. In July 2018, J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay were selected as its initial showrunners. The full initial crew (producers, writers, and head designers) was revealed in a Facebook video called "Meet our Fellowship" in July 2019.
