Albarth or Albard, also known as Gwerin, was a Man of Brethil of the House of Haleth, the second house of the Edain.
History[]
Albarth was a kinsman of Brandir the Lame. With Darlas and other volunteers, he accompanied Túrin when he went to slay Glaurung. Albarth was brave and followed Túrin, while all the other members of the company fled, including Darlas, who was slayed by Brandir for his cowardice. However, Albarth fell in the crossing of the river and drowned.[1]
Other versions of the legendarium[]
Another version of the same account tells of Darlas "the brave one" and Albarth the "coward".[1] However, Albarth was replaced in later versions by the character of Hunthor.[2]
