Adam Reuel Tolkien, born on March 13, 1969, is the son of Christopher Tolkien and Baillie Tolkien and the grandson of J.R.R. Tolkien and Edith Tolkien. He is a lighting engineer by profession but has also made significant contributions to his grandfather's literary legacy. Adam has translated several of J.R.R. Tolkien's works into French, including Pictures by J.R.R. Tolkien (1994), The Book of Lost Tales Part One (1995), and The Book of Lost Tales Part Two (1998).
In addition to his translation work, Adam helped his father, Christopher Tolkien, edit J.R.R. Tolkien's notes for The Children of Húrin. He also played a key role in the creation and organization of the Tolkien Estate website.
