This article is about the second in command of Eomer's men. For the non-canonical boy of Rohan, see Éothain (film character).

"Halflings! Halflings! But they are only a little people in old songs and children's tales out of the North. Do we walk in legends or on the green earth in the daylight?"
Éothain, The Two Towers

Éothain was a Man of Rohan during the War of the Ring.

History Edit

Éothain was Eomer's second in command when Éomer was the Third Marshall of the Mark. He was with a part of Éomer's eored when they met up with Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli in The Two Towers after defeating a horde of Uruk-Hai and orcs. When the three hunters spoke of Halflings, Éothain did not believe them that "Halflings" were anything more than characters in children's stories and was against aiding them. It is unknown whether he was at Helms Deep during the Battle of the Hornburg or the Pelennor Fields. It is also unknown whether he was at the Battle of the Black Gate. His fate is unknown.
