Why did my poll get deleted? I had a poll that asked which warrior would win and it had Ancalagon, Saruman, the King of the Dead, Thorondor, Ungoliant, and Durin’s Bane and now it’s gone. Why?
What's on your mind?

Hi there! I'm Miller, a Community Manager for Entertainment on behalf of Fandom. It's a pleasure to (virtually) meet you all! Happy to announce that I'll be the Community Manager for this wiki. I'll be your point of contact moving forward. As you may have heard last month, Fandom introduced new Community Managers who would be coming in to support wikis. I'm excited to work with you all, and look forward in being an advocate for you based on the needs of the community. If you ever have a question or issue relating to the wiki, don't hesitate to contact me and I will do my best to assist you! I'm looking forward to working with you all!
Just Updated
Over the last couple of weeks, there have been a lot of strong feelings elicited by and voiced about The Rings of Power, and understandably so. Several times, discussions here have gotten quite heated, and I want to take a second to address the issue.
First of all, (not directed at any specific user) please remember that it always in the best interests of all to remain calm and levelheaded when discussing an issue. Disagreements are a natural part of discussion, but it's never okay to resort to ad hominem attacks on others, regardless of what their opinions might be.
Second - it's perfectly fine to like TRoP. It's equally fine not to like it. You're no less of a person (or fan) for holding either view. To expound:
Thinking TRoP is good does not make one a wokester, Amazon bot, or Tolkien sell-out.
Thinking TRoP is bad does not make one a sexist or racist.
Stirring up dissension (coming from any side) serves no constructive purpose. The best way to change others' minds on a topic is to reason with kindness and evidence, even if they seemingly don't deserve it. Remember that no matter how much you may disagree with someone, there's a reason they hold that opinion, and only by treating them as you want to be treated will progress be made!
I wanted to add a note about names and numbering on the wiki. It's a minor point yes, but given the number of people in the legendarium who are numbered, is an important point to remember when editing the wiki.
Tolkien exclusively used English numbering tradition, which differs from American numbering traditions as follows:
A number is usually not assigned to the name of anyone other than a King (or a Thain)
Numbers go after the first name, so Ferumbras III Took, not Ferumbras Took III
People who are the 'Ist' are not numbered as such until there is a II. For examples see Kings Araphor or Arvegil.
If you are new here, be sure to read the Guidelines for this discussion posts area, found to the left under Feed Moderation.
The rules are no more important than the opening statement.
Gentle reminder that, per the guidelines, posts about memes aren't allowed here. It's fine to respond to another post with a meme if in good taste, but a new post cannot be created solely for the purpose of sharing memes.
It's really confusing and i can't type anything that isn't the title and when i publish it it says error. help?
Hi everyone! As your Wiki Manager, I wanted to make sure I shared important information about an upcoming change happening across Fandom that will affect all its communities, this one included. Fandom is currently working on migrating its wikis to a new Unified Community Platform (UCP for short). You can read more about this in this blog.
If you still have questions about what exactly this all means even after checking the blog, don't hesitate to ask, and I'll be happy to either supply you with an answer or find one for you in case it's something I don't know myself.
Wiki migrations had been on hold for some time for the engineering team to be able to fix some issues regarding the editor and admin experience on UCP, but they have now started again with a few improvements. You can see the banner notification on this wiki already, which means it will happen very soon in this community.
After the migration, you can also use this post to leave any and all feedback you may have about UCP as well, so I can relay it back to Fandom. Or, if something happens to get broken during the migration, I’ll be here to help you fix it. I hope we can work together to make the transition go as smoothly as possible!
For some reason I cannot make a poll and I really want to so here is my question. Russingon ? or not?. Tell me in the comments!!

Thank you for your validation I would love some responses
Per the Guidelines, "Who would win" posts are not allowed.
This was not included in the guidelines until this morning, so no harm done. As of now please be sure, when creating a post, to tag only pages that directly relate to what you're posting about. This way, when someone else wants to see what has been posted about Aragorn, for example, they won't see unrelated posts.
As always, feel free to reach out if you have questions! I'll do my best to clarify what a post should be tagged under if it seems to be unclear.
Posts containing profanity and/or suggestive content are not allowed here and will be deleted; the age-appropriateness of this discussion page should mirror that of Tolkien's works.
Mae govannen, Mellon! I am fairly new to this Wiki and was wondering who the moderators are for the One Wiki to Rule them All? And also, what are the community guidelines? Lothron i Valar bless cin, Mellon!!
Hello Everyone,
Would it be appropriate to include entries for the Professor's Bookshelf series of books? I am reading the first in the series - The Song of the Nibelungs and really enjoying it. The book is a reprint of the 1897 English translation, which was likely the version Tolkien read at some point in his life.
It obviously isn't directly connected to the Lord of the Rings, but there are thematic elements that are shared by the two works.
What do you think?
Thanks,
Arby777
Now that Brave Hobbit's Movie-disqualification polls have run their course and been completed, resulting in The Return of the King as victor, there will be no more posts here about preferences between the film trilogies.
Happy Sunday! All of you who use this space, please read the Guidelines, linked one of the sides of your browser. Take note of the first rule. It will explain why certain posts are vanishing.
This thread is a place for any users to ask questions to our administrators.
Since this has come up recently, I'll summarize our position here for the sake of clarity.
The Guidelines have been updated to include an overview, but in essence, what I'd like to clarify is the purpose of our own Discussions page. You'll likely notice that we intend for it to be different in nature than many other wikis' Discussions, for the following reasons. Since this Discussions page is, in fact, an extension of the One Wiki to Rule Them All, its purpose is an extension of the wiki's purpose: to be a serious, fact-based encyclopedia of all things related to J.R.R. Tolkien, chiefly his own works as well as the corresponding adaptations. As such, the Discussions here should be a place for thoughtful discussion, fact-based analysis (well-structured theories are welcome), and relevant news.
Having said that, we want everyone here to have fun. That's why (for now) we allow polls, as that has seemed to be a popular feature. We simply ask you keep these things in mind as you post, and hope our site can help bring about a better understanding of Tolkien and his works. Welcome, thanks for your understanding, and of course, don't hesitate to ask us any questions you might have!
