When I deign to write about such things as religion in relation to books, I received outlandish looks. However, it is well known that C. S. Lewis and J. R. R. Tolkien were friends, and perhaps even spoke about writing their individual series when they were together, leading to some interesting parallels that readers of both can notice. I noticed similarities between the lion, Aslan, and Sauron. Two sides of the same coin, one evil, one good, both owners of vast lands, and even vaster armies. I noticed that Saurons minions came from the bowels of the earth, and mud, which is said in Christianity that God made us from soil, while Aslans people are animals and humans, also from the earth. Yet another significance I get dirty looks for when mentioning but that is my thought.
