Ok. I really just don’t want to go way off topic.
But I suppose the question then becomes: is the end of bringing good to more people greater than the negative effect of taking over their nation I guess?
And that’s an interesting question. And a whole other discussion. Whew.
Lots of great people approve of imperialism. Tolkien was awesome, and clearly he did.
What exactly is wrong with a nation of good morals taking over a place that maybe doesn’t have much good in it?
Wouldn’t you want to help your fellow man out of the chaos?
^Many great people approve of imperialism. What is wrong with spreading a positive influence to people who are surrounded by things that are not good? Why would anyone want to leave his fellow man in the distress of chaos?
Tell me - what would be good about that?
Well, I believe it’s already been mentioned that Gondor represents what is good in humanity.
So of course it makes sense that it is considered good that what is good conquers.
Pretty simple
You asked why shouldn’t it be ok for Rhun and those other places to conquer.
I’m simply asking why you think that.
Well, @Godzillavkk , if those other places are supposed to represent what’s wrong with humanity, then why do you think they should be encouraged to conquer?
^Wow. Well said.
Oh. Well, then. He does have timeless truths in his writing.
But if you really disagree, just keep in mind he wrote up a completely different world.
I mean that makes sense to blame liberal changes...
But anyway, it’s Tolkien’s world so he can make the consequences as he sees fit, no?
Um. Er...I don’t want to go off topic...so
I am interested in how that relates to Tolkien’s completely separate world though...
What disasters are you referring to and what does this have to do with Tolkien’s world?!
Wow they’re truly beautiful elves!
Yikes! That’s not Arwen!!
Interesting...I don’t understand this very well...
Aww. Cute!!
^Aw yeah! Sam and Rosie!!
Wow!
Wow. Tauriel and Kili’s daughter looks really pretty!!
(Yes by biological standards. Gay relationships have been shown by science to be detrimental to the human species - physically, psychologically, emotionally. And to my knowledge they make no sense for the elves either. Tolkien was a very intelligent man; he’d not agree with such foolishness.)
Ah. True
