Legolas was not part of The Hobbit book by J.R.R. Tolkien, but rather his father, the Elvenking (Thranduil in Peter Jackson’s trilogy), played a big role in the book. somehow Peter Jackson weaved Legolas into the storyline in the movie with the sole purpose of creating a connection for his character between LOTR and The Hobbit, where Thranduil tells Legolas to find the ranger Aragorn. But Legolas also helped to enhance Thranduil’s story in the movie, like when Gandalf says that “gems where not the only thing his wife left for him, she left a son.”, making him realise the love that he had lost for a long time. Legolas left his kin and found Aragorn in the Third Age, and after befriending Aragorn his character changed a lot as an individual. it is believed that Legolas’ personality had changed almost completely after meeting new people outside of his kin, and after losing the one he loved, Tauriel. He became kinder and more “open-minded”, in a sense, to other people of Middle-Earth.
I see! thanks
I like “I would have followed you to the end, my brother. My captain. My king.” the best actually! 🤪
