I am a big fan of Tolkien, but I feel that it is more inspiration rather than stealing.
The world that has been created is different, while there are things that are in commen.
If you tell about stealing then orcs cannot be used anywhere as they are created by Tolkien.
George RR Martin says he takes so much inspiration on Tolkien.
I am happy that they feel inspired and make different stories. Some might be for you, others might nog, I would enjoy it! :)
No idea how acurate this is, but can be fun to track with your own walking distance :)

I agree with @Tolkien24 here. They needed each other in all of their own way to succeed. Others might be more easily corrupted for example
What you should keep in mind when he says that in the movies, is that they only had the rights for lotr, so they could not work with the information from the Silmarillion for example.
As far as I know they wear cloaks when dealing with the living, to ask things etc.
I think as a second, their "weapon" is not invisibility, but fear. As for example in weathertop:
"Terror overcame Pippin and Merry, and they threw themselves flat on the ground. Sam shrank to Frodo's side. Frodo was hardly less terrified than his companions; he was quaking as if he was bitter cold..."
Here they used their fear instead of invisibility.
I think it is a way of strategy, using fear instead of invisibility.
Maybe also to do with that Sauron has some ignorance in believing that the ringbearer will use the ring instead of destroy it (As he finds out too late).
This last part is just what I think, as far as I know nothing was officially written down of this specifically.
Ah you meant later on, that is right! :)
Actually Morgoth is one of the Valar as well. But the Valar are indeed part of the Ainur.
The Balrogs are Maiar as well.
The bree scene is in FOTR as well!
In AUJ a fleeing dwarf
BotFA a portraid of Bilbo's father
Ah I did not knew that one. Thank you! :)
@Vedastus In the end actually everyone is created by Eru. This is stated in the Silmarillion. This is also why Melkor corrupted elves instead of creating his own creatures
Eagles were not confirmed as being maia right? This was also a bit of a gray area as far as I know
Melkor was indeed Valar. I must say regarding how powerful he was, he was also very afraid. He also got injured by an elf pretty bad and lost some of his "Valar power" (like showing himself in Another form)
Regarding Ungoliath, it absolutely could be, it is just not sure, just like Tom Bombadil :)
Never heard of saruman the black. He went to the many colours and in the end as Sharku in the Shire
There is much more lore about her in the Silmarillion, but they di not have the rights, do could not include it in the movie Unfortunately
Saruman was not canon, gollum was influence of Eru.
For me Boromir, as someone redieming himself after the corruption of the ring.
Melkor was already singing another tone at the start.
Regarding Ungoliath, unclear. Some say maia, other say something else. Shelob is a spawn from Ungoliath
Maybe you heard thar because he went to Valinor in the end? But that has to do with being a ringbearer, cannot think of another thing someone would think of?
I think it is also the way he got it. Smeagol got it by killing. Frodo and Bilbo did not use force.
Lord of the rings, I would recommend, an easy read after the Silmarillion :)
After that, children of Hurin, Fall or Gondolin and Beren and Luthien! :)
